It is a way to sign documents that possesses authenticity, integrity, reliability, and non-repudiation. This means that the author of a digital signature can never deny, through technological or legal means, their responsibility for the content.

Is a scanned signature the same as a digital signature?

No. A scanned signature is merely a copy of a handwritten signature and does not guarantee the authenticity of the document, as it can easily be copied and inserted into another document.

Is it possible to modify a digitally signed document?

No. The digital signature not only verifies the authorship of the document but also makes it immutable. If any changes are made to the document, the previously made signature becomes invalid.
