Individuals who come to the United Kingdom as visitors have the right to remain for up to six months. After this time it is obligatory for all individuals to their return to theit country of origin to make any new application.

To qualify for a visitor’s visa, individuals have to prove that they have sufficient financial means to cover their stay whilst in the United Kingdom.
Individuals who are issued with a visa for less than six months, can extend it up to a maximum of 6 months by making a new application whilst, still in the UK, as long as their existing visa has not expired.
There are other categories of visitors visas which have specific requirements.

> Special visitor (children, people seeking private medical treatment, marriage, relatives of children who are in full time education, individuals visiting the UK as potentials students and visitors in transit).
> Visitor for work.
> Visitor for medical treatment.
