Tier-2 visas are designed for individuals who have an offer of employment in the United Kingdom; to obtain a Tier-2 visa it is necessary to attain a minimum of 70 points, from the following:

> Sponsorship declaration provided by the proposed employer
> Authenticated Financial Statement
> Qualifications;
> Knowledge of the English Language (10 points minimum)
> Evidence of financial resources (10 points minimum)

To qualify for Tier-2 it is necessary that the employer can prove that the vacancy cannot be filled by an English or European citizen. In some cases, even if the applicant has 70 points or more, they may have to undertake further tests for the specific job that they have been offered.
People who already live in the United Kingdom can also apply for a Tier-2 visa, as long as they can provide all the necessary documentation.
