However such a visa eliminates the need for a Certificate of Approval which is normally required when a non EU citizen wishes to marry in the UK. Fiancé visas lasts for six months and, during this period it is expected that the couple will marry. If the marriage does not take place during the length of the visa it is possible to extend the visa whilst in the UK by making a new application. Illegal individuals (people who have overstayed the period of their visa) can also apply for a fiancé visa. However, the granting of such a visa does not guarantee that, in the future, the individual will be able to be granted a marriage visa. |
