Before holidays in the United Kingdom

With the end of the year approaching many Brazilians will visit the UK either to visit family, friends or even on holiday. For those receiving guests for the New Year, here are some tips that can help not to ruin your celebration.

It is common that Immigration in the airports, is well demanding, this normally happens in all cases, but when it is about the tourist entrance, the requirements alone increase.

The reason because of Immigration is so rigorous is to prevent any entrance of false tourists in the country, people who take advantage of the chance to come in the country as tourist and later remain illegally. Another reason is the attempt to prevent the increasing request of visas of dependents, which is the tourist coming with the intention to become dependent of a relative already present and settled in the United Kingdom.

So that your relative or friend does not have any problem at Immigration, they must present some basic documents, proving that their intention is only to visit the country.

IA good idea would be an invitation letter, which functions as a declaration of hosting a tourist in their residence in the United Kingdom. The letter must be directed to the Immigration and in English.  It must contain all the personal information such as; full name, passport number, including type of visa or their present situation in the country, in case of Brazilians who possess European passport. For the visitor, it is also necessary to inform their personal information, time of arrival in the United Kingdom and the relation with the host.

It’s crucial to present the return ticket; it must contain all the information that will be declared in the invitation letter, a correct personal information and return date. It will be also requested that the tourist demonstrates bonds in Brazil, this can be; a letter from the university, (still in progress); a employer’s letter, or exactly corroborative of that the visitor is independent, register of its company or business. The bond information serves to demonstrate that due to obligations with the country, the tourist does not have intentions to remain in the United Kingdom; therefore that they possess bonds in its native country.

Another basic requirement made by Immigration is the evidence of financial support while in the country; the average amount calculated by Immigration is of £100 per day. The tourist does not have to show £1000 in cash at Immigration if she/he is coming to stay 10 days. However, the same amount in travel cheques or bank statement or credit cards is also considered to prove that the visitor possesses total conditions to pay their stay while in the United Kingdom.

At LondonHelp4U we constantly receive cases of Brazilians who are withheld at Immigration because they had not been able to prove they were only visiting the country. To prevent any problems on your holidays, LH4U advises their tourists to provide all the documents necessary so their entrance in the United Kingdom is simple and fast.
