Lula is awarded in London
The International Institute of Actions of the United Kingdom, Chatham House, granted on the 5th of November the politician prize of the year to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The President was recognized for its contribution to the integration of the countries of Latin America, and his importance in the resolution of regional crises and his social persistence to diminish the poverty in Brazil.

During his speech, Lula emphasized the importance of the external politics for the development of Brazil and the Brazilian mission in Haiti was sufficiently praised. In addition to that he spoke of the necessity to remodel the agencies of multilateral dialogue, since the ONU is weakened politically and it did not obtain to foresee the serious economic crisis that has been happening for more than one year. “The multilateral and multipolar world with which we dream will demand a deep reform of its institutions politics, especially of United Nations”, the President said.

The World Bank and Fundo Monetário Internacional (FMI) also had been criticized by Lula da Silva for the positions adopted with the poor countries and in development. Moreover, he also reaffirmed the idea of a protecting and sovereign, the controlled Amazon Forest for the countries compose by, with a goal of common climatic change.

The ceremony was a supper gala dinner at the Banqueting House, Whitehall and was presented by the Duke of Kent. Great Brazilian entrepreneurs had appeared to the delivery of the prize that was sponsored by British companies with commercial interests in Brazil and by state nationals such as Petrobra's. Also, the minister of the Foreign affairs of Saudi Arabia, the prince Saud al-Faisal Bin Abdulaziz, and the president of the Liberia, Ellen had concurred for the prize Johnson-Sirleaf.
