According to the Home Office’s new rules, published last month, foreign doctoral students can stay legally in the country for over a year after completing the course. This extension, however, it is not automatically given to the students.

Those who want to stay in the UK for this “extra year” should apply to obtain a new visa.
During the “extra year”, you could work legally without any restriction, except if you want to act as a doctor, dentist or professional sport in training period.

As for the period in which the student is enrolled in a doctorate, the same work restrictions are valid. Foreign doctoral students can only work 20 hours per week in the UK.
Under the Home Office’s new rules, foreign doctoral students must make an application at least 60 days before the end of the course. The end date to be observed is the one printed out in the CAS Letter issued to the student by the university. For those not familiar with the document, CAS Letter is nothing more than the proof that the foreign student is enrolled in an educational institution recognized by the Home Office.

London was the capital chosen by Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado to debut its newest exhibition, “Genesis”. Result of a research developed over eight years, “Genesis” brings 200 photos in black-and-white to celebrate the power of unspoiled nature and examine the relationship between man and the fragility of our planet.

“Genesis speaks of initiations, a planet untouched in its most pristine regions of traditional lifestyles in harmony with nature. I wanted to visit places untouched and still so today. I want people to see our planet with a different look and feel touched by it, “said Salgado to the Natural History Museum in London, which hosts the exhibition.

To develop the project “Genesis”, the Brazilian photographer visited isolated regions in 32 countries, traveling on foot, by plane, by boat and canoe. The exhibition takes the audience on volcanoes in the Galapagos Islands, penguins and whales of Antarctica, and an indigenous tribe in the Amazon.

In addition to the test “Life in The UK” or the “ESOL Certificate with Citizenship”, the applicants will have to demonstrate that they have, at least, intermediate level of English on their speaking and listening skills. In order to prove their language skills, the candidates will have to hold one of the B1 level certificates recognised by the Home Office.

Nowadays, everyone that applies for the Indefinite Leave to Remain (IRL) or for the British citizenship have two options to comply with the Home Office requirements

The same rule can be applied for those who are married or are partners of a person settled in the United Kingdom.

To be given permission to settle as a victim of domestic violence, you must prove that your relationship existed and it was genuine when you were last given permission to enter or remain or you were last given leave in order to access public funds while you applied for indefinite leave on the basis of domestic violence.

The victim of domestic violence who wishes to be settled in the UK has also the obligation of giving evidence of the abuse that they have been suffering. Although the Home Office does not specify which kinds of evidences are accepted as a proof of domestic violence, it is recommended that the victim denounce the abuses to the Police or discuss their problems with social workers, for instance, in counseling sections.

Benefits

While the victim is waiting for a decision regarding their Visa application, it is possible to receive public benefits for a period of 3 months. However, it is up to the government to decide whether the applicant should or should not have access to public funds.

We visit the famous world heritage site at Stonehenge, where entrance is included.

We also take a guided tour of Avebury, the only village in England to be found inside a stone circle, believed to be over 2000 years older than Stonehenge and is just 3 miles in radius.

The village also plays host to the famous Red Lion Pub, this 400 year old pub has been featured on the “Most Haunted” TV show and is listed as one of the Top 10 most haunted pubs in Britain.
Perhaps you’ll spot the ghost of landlady “Florrie” who as legend tells it was murdered by her soldier husband in the 1600′s as he returned from fighting in the English Civil War and discovered she had been unfaithful to him in his absence.
Just outside of Avebury is one of Europe’s most impressive ancient burial mounds, West Kennet Long Barrow we’ll take a brief stop to take a look inside the tomb inside the hillside located close to Silbury Hill.
Our tour will also let you view the beautiful rolling country side to spot one of the famous chalk white horses and see if we can find any recent crop circles!
We also take you through the history of King Arthur and visit the famous ruins of Glastonbury Abbey, with free time to explore the nearby town.

We include an overnight stay at a Hilton hotel where dinner & breakfast are also included in the price.
From Neolithic Stone Circles to the ancient Glastonbury Abbey (King Arthur and Queen Guinevere’s supposed final resting place) this tour is perfect for exploring legend and mystery.
